I am delighted to invite you to the special reception to celebrate the award winning Channel 4 Education's two latest game launches The Polish Battle of Britain and Trafalgar:Origins

The Polish Battle of Britain is a historically accurate game based on the diary entries of the Polish soldiers who fought for Britain as part of the famous 303 Squadron. The player becomes part of the squadron, immersing themselves in the world of the Polish soldiers as they prepared for and engaged in battle.

Structured around the real-life experiences of the pilots, the missions will allow the player to explore the history of the 303’s formation, their victories and tragic losses as they make up one of the most influential squadrons of the Second World War.  With single player and multi-player skirmish options, gamers will find themselves faced with challenges which demand strategic risktaking and the very particular type of tactical flair that mirrors those of the original Polish squadron. Via compelling gameplay, history is brought to life in an immersive, memorable and entertaining way.

Trafalgar Origins

Trafalgar Origins re-creates historic naval events in the build-up to the infamous battle between Nelson and Napoleon. The game highlights the role of non-British nationals in the British Navy, and their importance in securing British dominance of the high seas during the 19th Century.

Set against a backdrop of increased tension between the British, French and Spanish, the game captures the tension and excitement of the era, whilst delivering an historically accurate experience. The game places the player in control of their own ship as they play through a series of challenging set-pieces, earning gold and managing their crew as they progress. As well as the single player missions, there is an asynchronous multi-player system which allows up to five players to compete (or co-operate) for personal objectives and their place at the top of the global leaderboard.

Both games are the first to utilise C4 education's new Facebook Connect component, allowing the player to bring their friend network directly into the game experience. It also pushes the player's achievements, scores and progress notifications back into their social network through a specially designed Facebook Application. The component will unify how future C4 projects integrate with Facebook with the view to creating a consistent experience across their future releases.

At our launch event you will be able to hear from and meet the game's creators and from Channel 4's Commissioning Editor Matt Locke.

Drinks and food will be served.
